“Constructive Fidgeting for Self-Management”
Transcript:
Hi, I’m Amber Adams and I teach children how to manage their strong physical or emotional sensations using a system called the Feldenkrais Method®.
This workshop is called “Constructive Fidgeting for Self-Management.”
If children are unable to manage their own strong emotions, it’s very difficult for them to focus or learn, or get along with others—whether it’s the teachers or fellow classmates. But teaching children HOW to manage these strong emotions is a very elusive task for teachers.
We’ll look at self-management through the lens of the body, and how to regulate strong sensations as they arise.
We’ll also present simple, short sensory tools that you can use in the classroom to help your students learn to manage their own strong emotions.
As children gain mastery of their strong emotions and these strong sensations as they come up for them, they have more “bandwidth” left for learning, for focus, for getting along well with others. Which makes for a calmer, better learning environment in the classroom.
I hope you’ll join me for this innovative approach to gaining self-mastery: “Constructive Fidgeting For Self-Management”
